This blog is dedicated to all melasma sufferers who, just like me, struggle with melasma. I will be sharing with you all the tricks I use to keep my melasma under control.
Thanks for sharing! I too suffer from melasma and avoid the sun as much as possible, but recently have been researching the hormonal side of melasma. Have you started taking the pine bark yet? If so, how is it working? Have you ever tried the combination of MAN, CoQ 10, and vitamin C?
Thank you guys for leaving your comments.Yes Jenny and it seems to help quite a lot. I also take vitamin C, Magnesium and zinc. My melasma is barely noticeable but I know it is there and It will be ready to take over my face if I am not careful.
Thanks for the info! I also suffer the symptoms of this annoying condition. Did you find Mecca was useful in balancing hormones and therefore melasma? Would love to know your thoughts on this. Thanks!
I just wanted to let you know that I also have melasma and that I have also tried the cosmelan. As a matter of fact twice, and months later it has came back just as bad. I use a good sunscreen religiously. If you could let me no how long it has been since you used the cosmelan and if your skin is still clear I would appreciate it. Thanks
Thanks for your post! I started using Cosmelan for a month and applied everyday twice a day. After a month using it my skin improved significantly and I started to use it once a week only. Now I use it every two weeks just to keep my skin clear. I also use this C vitamin serum on my face every night and take zinc and MSM tablets. MSM is fantastic.! As a mentioned before, there is no permanent cure for melasma, but it can be controlled with a good topic treatment , good diet and supplements. A healthy diet plays an important role so I try to eat well, drink loads of water, execrcise. My skin is not perfect but is far much better than it used to be and I am happy about it :)
I just had cosmelan 1 and still applying cosmelan 2 at home. I can still see the brown spots on my forehead and cheeks but noticeable. The most stubborn of all is the upper lip discoloration. When I don't have make up, It bothers me when I look in the mirror for a I look like a man or have a mustache. I try not to dwell on it too much for I am doing action for myself.
So my question is since you travel, are able to hang out at the beach or swim in the ocean or pool. I used to love going to the beaches and swim. I even like taking long hours of bike riding. It makes me sad that I wont be able to enjoy this things anymore (feels like I am imprisoned with this condition)
My melasma did not start until early this year. I have been going through fraxel laser to treat my deep acne scars. It was going well without side effects. My biggest mistake was after I had my laser, I joined an indoor boxing gym. But every time I get there, they require us to do outdoor running, or anything for 10-15 minutes. It was late afternoon like 5 or 6 pm and I wore sunscreen. But I sweat too because of the intense/rigorous workout. And that set it for me to have all this facial melasma.
Hey blue, what kind of melasma do you have? Sometimes is it necessary a deeper peeling with a good professional. Did you try any of the supplements I mentioned above?
Thank you so much for making this site and for all this great info!! I started getting melasma about 9 months ago, shortly after I got pregnant. My baby is 4 months old and it has faded some, but so has my tan and I am wondering if that is the only reason. Anyway, I have been curious about how to balance hormones after pregnancy, because I figured that would help-- and I had been wondering how to balance high levels of copper. So thank you again!! Hopefully some of this info will help me get rid of these stupid spots.
Hi there, thanks you for taking your time to leave us a message! It is quite normal to get chloasma during pregnancy. Some of it usually disappears after a while, so do not worry. Just try to eat heathy for your baby and wear a special sunscreen than will not jeopardise the baby. I heard Thinkbaby is a good one but ask a physician just in case. :)
Hi! I am so happy to have run in to your blog. I am going to post a link to yours on mine -- I hope that's ok. I am going on year two battling Melasma (started with my second pregnancy). I have been so embarrassed as it is only on my upper lip. I refuse to try any topical treatments after several have backfired in major ways. I have very sensitive skin and I just can't risk it. I am so happy to read your "internal" suggestions and am going to order the supplements you list and adjust my diet. I have stayed out of the sun for two years now and am now sun phobic. I would like to be able to vacation without the stress of constantly wondering if the sun is touching my face. My Melasma has a greyish tint and is only on my upper lip. It is very hard to cover up and so I am really hoping your suggestions work. Thank you so much for creating this blog. I'm feeling very optimistic!
